Ashtanga Standing Poses: From The Ground Up!

Standing poses are some of the most effective, safe postures in yoga to open your legs and hips. They also cultivate stability and stamina which are crucial in maintaining your asana practice. We will practice Suryanamaskar A& B to warm up the body and establish our breath, bandhas, and drishtis. Then we will practice the standing poses, staying longer than the traditional 5-8 breaths held in the series. These longer holds will give us time to explore the details or "research" the intricacies of the poses with an emphasis on Ahimsa, which is non harming. It is so important to realize that the standing poses are what will help us achieve the more challenging poses on the floor in the body of both the Primary and the Second series of Ashtanga yoga. A long satisfying Savasana will complete the class. This class is suitable for all levels of students.
