Get Started: YogaSlackers’ Foundational Basics

Do you want to try Slacklining Yoga in a short and sweet way? We have created a 40 minute class to introduce the concepts YogaSlackers’ foundational basics and give you the opportunity get your feet wet before you jump into slacklining. Slacklining is a meditative activity that will refine your sense of balance and mental focus. It involves balancing on a 1 inch wide 'yoga mat' (slackline). In this short and sweet Slackshop you’ll learn YogaSlackers’ these three basic concepts of Slackline Yoga- standing (commitment), arm balance (breath) and a line inversion (perspective). You do not need any previous slackline experience to take this class. All skill levels are encouraged to come. Take a chance and explore moving your yoga off your mat and into a slackline!

Slackro: Slackline Yoga And Partner Acrobatics

You mean AcroYoga on a Slackline!? Not exactly. We will be doing AcroYoga and Slacklining, individually to create an amazing practice. This workshop draws on the YogaSlackers expertise of yoga, slacklining and acrobatics. It is an in depth exploration moving toward redefining our perceived limits of what is possible. This course will move back and forth between partner acrobatic work which mimics the movement of a slackline and slackline work to improve acrobatics. You will learn how to use each other and the line to experience a whole spectrum of asanas, including arm balances and inversions. Come to experience an asana practice without touching the ground! Explore the limits of what is possible. No experience necessary, but experience with some body awareness practice (climbing, vinyasa yoga, dance, etc) is recommended.

Join Dr. Jinju Dasalla as she shares the art and science of somatic healing through poi and hoop dance. This workshop is a blend of theory and movement, weaving the basics of poi and hoop with yoga and dance. Harmonize your mind, body, and soul with revolutionary neurological re-pattering and restoring practices that have transformed countless lives toward new expanded ways of moving, thinking, and being. Regardless of level, this class is designed for you to experience these modalities as transformational tools and ideal for anyone interested in incorporating the flow arts into their personal or professional practice. The first 25 min of this workshop will be a lively warm up with flow basics. The remaining time will alternate between theory, journaling, and movement. Hoops and Poi will be provided. Please bring a journal and something to write with.

"When we are most vulnerable, we are most powerful". Gabrielle Roth The 5Rhythms is a moving meditation practice. We train the body and let the heart/mind follow. The Rhythms; Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness represent different states of being that appear most often in life. You will be rocked! If we can meet our fear with courage, then our vulnerability can become one of our greatest strengths. In this class we will explore where we are strong and where we are vulnerable. We will exercise parts of ourselves that need strengthening. We will search to bring light to the Warrior inside that has kept us alive until now. As we expand our own capacity to hold all that is, we can learn to also be present for what appears in those we love. This Little Warrior is about finding every treasure and bringing it to the surface.

Slackline Yoga: Starting the Long Walk

As you develop your slacklining practice you will start contemplating walking longer lines (longlines), highlines, and waterlines. All these lines have one thing in common: you cannot use the ground to begin your walk. This workshop will teach you several mounts to use in those cases and will have you walking the long walk in no time. Learning how to effectively enter any slackline without touching the ground will open a new spectrum of poses and line transition options to your practice. Pre-requisites: Previous participation on any Slackline Yoga Class or ability to stand and/or kneel on a slackline for at least 15 seconds.

Move those hips first thing in the morning to celebrate and to invigorate for the last day of the festival. Let all of the yumminess from the last few days be reminisced through movement. A little bit of asana, and a whole lot of movin' and a groovin’ … Wine down, pick it up slow, drop it like its hot or whatever you gotta do, it doesn’t matter because the hips don’t lie, and this morning they need to move! The majority of class will follow a challenging, yet fun tempo as we move through combinations of yoga asana, fitness and dance.

We will end with a group dance off followed by a blissful, buzzing savanna.
